Detailed legal overview
The latest amendments to Azerbaijan’s Tax Code bring major relief for micro-entrepreneurs and service providers in 2025:
- 75% Income Tax Exemption If you're a self-employed individual earning up to 45,000 AZN per year in areas like IT, translation, design, legal consulting, education, media, tourism, or service export, you can benefit from a 75% income tax exemption.
- Extra Incentives for Registered Micro-Businesses Those with at least 3 employees and no social insurance debt also qualify for this 75% exemption, even outside the listed service areas.
- Insurance Tax Relief Payments made to individuals under life and pension insurance policies (in force for 3+ years) will be exempt from income tax — effective for contracts signed after January 1, 2025.
- Green Energy Projects Private partners in renewable energy generation projects under public-private partnerships will enjoy up to 30 years of income tax exemption.
- Cultural VAT Cashback Starting July 1, 2025, 50% of VAT paid by individuals for theatre, film, museum, and concert tickets (cashless payments) will be refunded.
- Profit Tax Relief in Culture Sector Registered theatres, museums, film producers, and orchestras will enjoy a 90% income tax exemption for 5 years starting January 1, 2025.
These changes aim to boost small business growth, support creative industries, and attract investment in tech and green energy.
